The citizens of fill-in the blank demand “PIZZA!”
The purpose of this post is to hopefully share my experience with some of you that feel challenged because you find it hard to find subjects to photograph. Just like the saying goes “Never judge a book by its cover,” you never know what you’re going to find to photograph unless you look closer and from a different perspective. These images were shot with the iPhone 6s and processed with the free app VSCOcam.
On my drive back home from work I usually take the same street; Because there were a lot of vehicles turning left, I did not want to wait at the light, so I decided to keep going straight. I thought, “Well, I’m going to drive this way to see what I can take pictures of whenever I get bored and decide to take a walk.” Right after that, I see a KFC and because I hadn’t had that in a while, I decided to eat there. After eating, as I was walking back to my car, I looked at the sky and it just looked amazing! I then looked at the fence of a junk yard and thought that maybe I could find something interesting to photograph in the fence. When I looked down, I found this palm tree leaf laying on the grass.
What caught my attention as I kept walking, was the shape of the palm tree leaf, more than the fence. So here is another angle:
I looked at it again, and I could see the shape of a mask, so I went ahead and tried it on.
As you can see, there is nothing special about this picture.
Then I changed the angle and saw more potential in the skies and leaf.
I took several pictures changing my expression.
This is a tight one.
This is a solemn one.
I put on the mask from one side and the other and also upside down while I also changed my facial expressions. The skies helped enormously as well to add contrast to the leaf. What apparently was nothing out of the ordinary in a parking lot, it turned out to be lots of fun. I must admit that for a little while, I was actually transported to a far away land. After the talked that I had with my friend Ramón, I can see how my creative side at home is flourishing. This is my most favorite one out of all of them; It reminds me of a warrior.
I included the rest into a collage just because I didn’t want to inundate you with two dozen large images.
Warrior plethora ready to fight for their ideals
As you can see, you can also get creative in the way you arrange your selfies. It was so much fun working with me, myself and I.
My usual look, after the impromptu self-photoshoot, just in case you were wondering.
